☆ This past weekend marked the Defend Migrants Political Conference and Mobilization hosted by the International Migrants Alliance US (IMA-US) and the Tanggol Migrante Movement, culminating in the

launch of the Defend Migrants Alliance, which brings together the grassroots migrants movement under one fight, one united alliance. We will be sharing highlights from the historic gathering throughout the week! Tune in and share. ☆

To mark the end of IMA’s global week of solidarity on August 30th, the International Day of the Disappeared, members of IMA and the Tanggol Migrante Movement from all across the US gathered in Oregon for an urgently needed national political conference to further build our unity across communities to strengthen our people’s movement to defend migrants.

Throughout the day, different migrant leaders and organizers, both global and U.S.-based, shared the harsh reality migrants are currently facing in the U.S. and around the world under the current Trump administration. Migrants and their loved ones shared powerful testimonies on forced migration, family separation, and resistance to anti-immigrant attacks in the U.S. Organizers shared lessons on campaigns to defend migrants from detention and deportation and stressed the need to come together and continue to take up fights to build our collective strength. While the Trump administration seeks to inspire fear, conference participants were committed to fight back! ☆
