Jose "Babe" Romualdez

As the head of the Philippine Embassy in the U.S., Romualdez’ main role is to: protect the rights and welfare of Filipinos overseas and facilitate diplomacy and national development. He’s failed to do this.

Instead, he’s made empty promises and lies about helping Filipinos in distress while they continue to suffer in horrible and inhumane conditions, like the hundreds of seafarers who’ve been taken and deported just an hour away from the Embassy. He also hosted a $15k dinner while knowingly ignoring requests for ATN and other forms of aid from migrants in distress.

In his op-ed on the US' fascist policies, Romualdez clearly disparaged the work of Tanggol Migrante and other organizations for exposing the US government's policy of kidnapping and unjust detentions of migrants. He'd rather Filipinos remain "quiet" than assert for their humanity.
